What is the difference between Premium Pellets and Premium SPF pellets?

House Therm Premium Fuel Pellets are made from a mix of virgin hardwood and softwood. Premium SPF pellets are pure softwood pellets made from spruce, pine, and fir softwoods. Softwood pellets are slightly quicker to ignite and burn with a more lively flame, throwing more sparks, while hardwood pellets produce a more constant flame. There is very little difference in energy or ash content between the hardwood and softwood pellets. Both premium pellets are identically priced and meet premium pellet standards. Not sure which premium pellet will work best in your stove? Ask us to substitute a few bags on your next order so you can try both.

What is the difference between Premium Pellets and Standard Grade Pellets?

Premium Pellets are made from virgin materials, contain no bark, with low ash (under 1%) and moisture content. Standard Grade Pellets contain both clean recycled wood sources and virgin sawdust material with low levels of bark giving the pellets an ash content of 1% to 3%.

Will House Therm Fuel Pellets burn in my pellet appliance?

House Therm Premium Fuel Pellets are ideal for burning in all major fuel pellet furnaces and boilers. We have several different grades of pellets available and thus we can supply a pellet to best suit your specific application and provide you with the most cost effective energy source.

Can I use House Therm Fuel Pellets in my pellet barbecue?

House Therm Store offers Competition Blend mixed hardwood smoker pellets, exclusively developed for the BBQ market. We also have Apple Blend, Hickory Blend and Cherry Blend pellets to perfectly complement your cook!

Why are House Therm Softwood Bedding Pellets more effective than shavings?

House Therm Bedding Pellets take up minimal space both before and after they’re used. Pellets are compressed softwood biomass which expand into a soft animal bedding after adding water. Manure produced is significantly less when pellets are used, resulting in a more time and space efficient cleaning process.

How many bags of bedding pellets will I need to start a stripped 12×12 foot stall?

To cover the floor of a 12×12 stall with bedding pellets you will need to use approximately 8 to 10 bags.

How many bags of bedding pellets will a horse use per week?

On average, a horse will use 1 or 2 bags of bedding pellets per week. House Therm Softwood Bedding Pellets will hold 2.5 times their weight in water, so each 40 lb bag will hold approximately 47 litres or 12.5 gallons of liquid.

How thick should I lay the bedding?

Bedding thickness varies by preference, but we recommend laying the bedding about 3 to 4 inches thick in the summer and 6 to 7 inches thick in the winter.

Will House Therm Softwood Bedding Pellets clump in the stall?

Yes, House Therm Softwood Bedding Pellets will clump to urine and waste.

Does the bedding stick to the animals?

No, House Therm Softwood Bedding Pellets will not cling to animals.

Why is water added to the bedding pellets? Doesn’t that diminish the absorbency?

Adding a small amount of water expands the pellets into their original ‘sawdust’ form. The expansion of the pellets allows for easy spreading and sifting, while providing fast absorption of liquid.

What source materials are House Therm Softwood Bedding Pellets made from?

House Therm Softwood Bedding Pellets are made from all natural softwood fibres and are additive-free.
